children and work
With the end of the month here work has been crazy, it has been crunch time for us to collect every bit of money we can before we have close the month out. We have bee running and calling our butts off to make money so we can get good bonuses. We all need them!!! We did get a lot of people that did not want to pay us, I just don't understand why people do not care about their bills, it makes me wonder if they have any ambition in life at all. Thank god for the ones that do pay us, we always do real good at the end of the month. So glad it is the weekend though. Now I get a little break from school before it starts up again, spending more time with my family is always good!!!

Ready for the Weekend
City Repairs
If passed this sales tax will:
- raise an estimated $12 million which will allow us to repair or rebuild up to 60% of our streets
- cost an estimated 20 cents per day for the average family
- ensure that visitors who use our infrastructure share the cost
- end after 15 years. (Miami City Council pg.20)
The votes are to be held on July 27th. Now I am not real sure what sounds like a better Idea, vote and get my taxes raised again for a much needed project to protect our vehicles while driving down our roadways or not vote and nothing be done? It really pushes my bottons though, when I read the Miami news paper. If you have drove down Steve Owens Blvd. lately you will have noticed all the sidewalk construction going on. I was reading The Miami News-Record on Friday and there was an article stating that the city actually recieved grants to pay for those repairs to help keep a safer track for walking pedestrians Well, they couldn't just get a grant to help pay for our streets? I just baught new tires on my car at the beginning of July and I already had a flat on one of them, rediculous!!! The city also promises us some things.
If passed we the City Council promise:
- work will be performed according to Public Roan Plan
- work will be completed in 3 years
- Significant work will be done in EVERY ward
- ROADS WILL BE MAINTAINED PROPERLY. Additional funds totaling $500,000 annually will be set aside for maintenance. (Miami City Council pg.20)
This all sounds great and what not but like they should have been prepared and saving for stuff like this, I suppose it was no concern of theirs until now when it has progressed so bad that its tearing up its occupants vehicles. And if they are saying it will be 3yrs before things are doen once past then our streets must be pretty bad!!! I was also reading another article out of the Green Country Weekly that was titled, Myaamia Tribal Road Update, so it caught my eye. I began reading it and it states, ". . ., A 1.3 mile section of 65 rd is located within the Miami Tribe jurisdiction that houses the new Myaamia Community Center of the Miami Tribe.. . .The project of the new road falls under the Miami Tribal Roads Administration Program and has been achieved through federal funds allocated to the Tribe under the Indian Reservation Roads Program. . . .".(Smith pg.13) It also went on to say that is cost 1.6million.
Now that brings me to another issue I have; if half of this town is made on indian land due to the fact we have so many casinos in our town, owned by different Indian tribes, then why can't we get grants that fix our roads in this same situation? The Tribes around here are well off to where it wouldnt hurt them to help fix our streets tha way when travelors come in town to go to their casino and spend their money, they wont have to fall in a pot hole and tear their car up!!! It just erks me that they find every way to fix other things, yet the only solution to fixing our streets is to raise our city taxes. I think this will cause a lot of people to leave the city of Miami to go shopping elsewhere. So I am kind of up and down at this point on wether to vote yes or no about raising city taxes or not!!!
